Dude, I totally agree...Crysis rocked.
Never finished it though. Got all the way to the carrier stuff after we nuked the island and made the baddies stronger and couldn't figure out how to get the new hand held experimental weapon working after the captain bit the bullet. so I was 'kinda floundering on top the ship deck getting stomped by the big nasty... :D

Okay, that makes sense. Well congrats on getting another job in the games industry. I think just about every developer wants to work on games; myself included. ;)

Cheers,

Hi,
Apologies for not replying sooner, monitoring my blog isn't very high on my priorities at the moment. Also, as I've said before I won't be releasing my port of Tokamak in any form as it serves as little more than part of my portfolio at the moment. I had taken the vids down etc. but resurrected them as something to show potential employers when I was recently laid off (working on a now cancelled unannounced title). When I get the chance I will sort my blog out and take stuff down, but in the mean time I will set the youtube videos to private.

Best of luck with your projects,
Richard

*sigh*... It still seems like a pointless waste of code, but maybe I'll give porting Tokamak a go for myself (since my engine isn't working out anyways). :)

You really might want to consider taking down your private/abandoned projects. Having a features list, and teaser videos floating around the interwebs really suggests that it's a public project of some sort. It's honestly quite disappointing to find out that there's nothing behind it.

I've abandoned my share of projects too, but I always take them down immediately and post an article about it. Just a suggestion.

Anyways, I'll stop being a nuisance. ;)

All the best,

Hallo ViLiO,
I'm working on a physics engine for XNA and would love it if you posted the code to this. There is a serious lack of open-source .NET physics code out there. I understand your reluctance to release it, but OSS is meant to be shared! and it's sad to have it collecting dust on your HDD.

Saying that other developers shouldn't use it is just a cop-out. I'm building up a physics engine that has far fewer features than Tokamak because JigLibX is so painfully slow on the 360. A Tokamak port would be a great learning tool if nothing else, and I'd rather not reinvent the wheel if there's already a partial port. Just because you don't feel that it's ready for a serious game, doesn't mean we can't learn from and build upon it. :)

Just food for thought. If you don't want to post it, I can't make you... But I'm sure there are plenty of people like me who would greatly appreciate the gesture of posting a copy. Nobody says you have to maintain it. ;)

Anyways, please consider it.

Cheers,
PolyVector

Hi Neil,

I have no plans to distribute my old XNA bits 'n' bobs, either as binary or source. I guess it is also about time I take down my old youtube videos too :)

All the best,

Hi,

seeing you videos on youtube i'm very impressed with the physics demos. Would it be possible to get a copy of this demo to have a play around with it?

A new box is still a major priority on my list, although a lappy is probably the direction I'd be going. Alienware or one of those Dell gaming lappies. It's weird not having internet at home huh.

Skinning is really interesting...after you wrap your mind around heirarchy structures and recursion with branching. Also I've found that working with quaternions makes life a bit easier for slerping bone movement. Too bad about having to spend the cycles to convert to matrix to do the actual transformations, but the cycle count is still probably lower. (what do I know. I'm just a hobbiest) :)

happy gaming.
